How did you meet?

My husband and I met in Year 7 at secondary school and it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. Whilst we had the same friendship group and many of the same classes, it wasn’t until a post-university catch up with our friends that we realised it could be something more… after a few summer evening walks on the beach, we finally made it official.

The Proposal – how did it happen?

After a very relaxed day chilling by the pool, sipping cocktails in Koh Samui, Thailand, my husband popped the question before surprising me with a private dinner on the beachfront. It is a day I will never forget!

Which wedding venue did you choose and why?

Our family is so important to us both and so we were looking for a venue that could accommodate all of our family. The option of having barn accommodation for up to 40 guests right on site was fantastic and our families absolutely loved their stay at Trevenna. It turned into a weekend-long celebration.

We chose Trevenna because of the flexible options of either having an indoor or outdoor ceremony. It is such a beautiful location and all of the fantastic food is locally sourced and made on site. As we are both Cornish, it meant so much to us to be able to get married outside, surrounded by Cornish scenery and eating delicious locally sourced and freshly made food on our wedding day.

What was your favourite moment of your wedding day?

I don’t even know where to begin! Every moment of our wedding day was so special and I find it very difficult to pinpoint my favourite moment. I would probably say the speeches as they brought emotion, laughter and some really heartfelt moments to our magical day.

What’s one wedding planning tip you’d pass on to all brides to be?

I would suggest for future brides not to get too absorbed by what you see other people doing and what you see on Pinterest. Your wedding day is about you as a couple and how you want your day to be! Try not to get distracted by having absolutely everything you see at wedding fares and on Instagram, sometimes less is more and we felt it was the more personal touches like our personalised favours, guestbook, photos of us on our adventures on each table that really made our wedding day truly ours and personal to us.
