How did you meet?
We met in a place called Sainte Foy. Its a very small Ski resort in the French Alps. We had both moved out there working for a chalet company. We spent the next 5 months living and working together, then decided to return back to Cornwall together. Eight months later we went back and did it all again!
The Proposal – how did it happen?
I was 7 months pregnant at the time with our son Archie, He had taken me to Borringdon Hall, a lovely hotel in Plymouth to celebrate my 30th birthday, or so I thought. He had decided it would be a really good idea to go for a walk in across Dartmoor (to be honest I moaned the whole way, I just wanted to lay by the pool!) Anyway he did get me out there and whilst walking our dog around the estuaries, as we stopped for a break he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Which wedding venue did you choose and why?
We chose The Green in Upton Cross, Liskeard. This was the first place we visited and as we left I remember thinking is there any point going elsewhere? For us it seemed perfect. We did go and visit 2 other places, as beautiful as they were we knew The Green was for us. Set in the Moors the scenery was beautiful and we felt it was on keeping with our winter wedding (we got married on 7th December). It offered us rustic feel we were hoping for. The staff were also incredible, on that first day and every other day after, whether it be in person, over the phone or email. Most of my family live in London, so it was really important to me that there was on site accommodation. The Green have space for 32 people. It is also an all exclusive use venue, so we all arrived on Friday night and left on Sunday so we had the whole weekend to celebrate!
What was your favourite moment of your wedding day?
Oh my goodness I not really sure if there is one, the whole day was full of so many amazing moments! We had pom pom confetti to replicate snow. All of our friends and family stood on either side of us and threw it all over us! The photos of this are beautiful. There was also a moment during the speeches where are son took the microphone and starting calling out ‘toast’. No ones sure if he wanted everyone to toast… or if he just wanted toast!! I won’t forget that moment
What’s one wedding planning tip you’d pass on to all brides to be?
One tip that someone said to me was make sure the bar is in the same room as the dance floor. The guys always migrate to the bar and girls are always dancing. If it’s all in one room then everyone gets involved with everything and they stay together !
